(ii) The Lancer Fiction Gateway
The Gateway is the directory of stories on LancerLovers and LancerFanFiction (as well as stories on external archives such as fanfiction-dot-net or AO3), the repository of our Resources section—which is really worth a look if you’re interested in writing westerns—and the place where we publish our monthly updates. The Gateway, then, is usually a place that people just pass through on their way to the author or story they want.
However, until December 2022, it also hosted our collection of round robin stories, which we have just moved to a different subsite. So visitor numbers for this site will encompass readers of the round robins.
So, in 2022, the Gateway had
27,509 visitors
(from all the countries listed above)

viewing 234,022 pages
and leaving 23 comments

.
.
All the figures for the Gateway and the two archives are taken from:
– the number of views (that is, pages looked at);
– individual visitors recorded at the sites (most of them repeat visitors, of course, coming to read the stories);
– the country where they live;
– and number of comments left
All compiled automatically by WordPress.com between 01 January – 31 December 2022.
The numbers of authors and stories are compiled manually by Sandy.

I thought that was interesting too. I mean, I expected the majority of readers to be in the US (which, of course, they are), but I was so intrigued by readers in places like Finland!

Fascinating statistics ladies!! And I love the way they’re presented. Isn’t it amazing to see so many countries represented. It just goes to show, that good taste is universal. 😉

I certainly had a lot of fun putting it together this year! I was struck by the countries, too. The US, I expected. But Switzerland, Peru and Finland are very intriguing. I’d love to know if our readers there are regulars and how they got into Lancer.

This is terrific information. I knew we had some Australia, UK, Germany, US, and South American countries but had no idea how vast our readership reach was growing.

Isn’t it great to know that our beloved Lancer is still growing? Think back to 1968- who would have dreamed that 55 years later, it would be as popular as it is today? Long Live Lancer!
